WordPress is a free and open source blogging tool and content management system (CMS) based on PHP and MySQL. It has many features including a plug-in architecture and a template system. WordPress is used by over 14.7% of Alexa Internet’s “top 1 million” websites and as of August 2011 manages 22% of all new websites.[5] WordPress is currently the most popular CMS in use on the Internet.[6][7]
It was first released on May 27, 2003, by Matt Mullenweg[1] as a fork of b2/cafelog. As of December 2011, version 3.0 had been downloaded over 65 million times.[8]

With the threats of hackers gaining access to your site ever so active there are a few ways of defeating them. Aside from changing your FTP to SFTP and changing your passwords.
Here is something you need to do. Not give your version of WordPress away. How do I do that you say? Well it’s easy. Open up your functions.php file and add this snippet below.
// Disable WordPress version reporting as a basic protection against attacks
function remove_generators() {
return '';
}
add_filter('the_generator','remove_generators');
And that’s it. Enjoy
Designed a new theme the other day. Felt it was time for a kick ass portfolio theme for Designers, Actors and Artist alike. Full-size background slider, with homepage gallery, blog and more.

Hackers are going crazy hacking hosting companies such as Dream Host. Came across probably the worst virus ever seen. An injection into the Database that spread like cancer. Definitely the hardest removal I have ever attempted. In the end I had to give up and create a brand new Database and extract from the tables of the old as much info as possible for the client.
Lesson learned here is to be careful who you give your passwords to. Some people can be infected already and never know it. Thus giving your passwords to the hackers. It’s unfortunate but it happens and we need to be careful.
If you’ve been hacked and need help, give me a call. I’ll see what I can do to help you out.
Wow, this week has seen more hack attacks than I’ve ever seen. It even took down one of the biggest host companies for pretty much the entire day.
While this is happening there are a few precautions you can take to fight off the mean hacker. One of them is to always make sure you have the latest version of WordPress installed. Reason being is that they are constantly changing the core files and security files to keep things real. Bad lil hacker.
If you’re afraid don’t be but don’t rush to upgrade either. Read all the documentation and hire a consultant, like me, to see if your theme will still keep on trucking with the latest version.
Sure, plugins will crash, but do you really care? What’s more important. Years of hard work deleted by a hack or a plugin that you can always re-install with some coding? Right….the choice is obvious.
We’re currently using 3.31 right now so make sure you’re using it. Again, read the docs. WordPress 3.31
Wow, 2012 and so many new changes to both Mac and iTunes in general. But as the title says this post is regarding iTunes and how you can download your library. Years ago you weren’t able to, nor were you allowed to. Things have changed dramatically over the years and it’s about time.
This might come out a bit negative but don’t hate me. Lately, I haven’t been a fan of Apple. They’re the reason my HD crashed and they were not very sympathetic to my situation after the tech fried it. After attempting to upgrade to Snow Leopard, just so I can upgrade to Lion, my HD had a heart attack. Now what really pissed me off is that you have to buy Snow Leopard just to upgrade to Lion. Actually you have to buy Lion after that. WTF? It’s amazing that a big ass company like Apple does this to their fan base. So on with the story.
After a weekend of losing my hard drive and a few songs on my Macbook and finding out my other Mac was fried too, the latter being the one with over 3,000+ songs on it I’ll have you know, that I was screwed and had lost my collection that I had been building up for over 10 years. Over $3500 dollars in music gone in a second. Well, not anymore. iTunes allows you to download, finally, your music to an Authorized machine. Yes, it’s pretty simple but you might have to do it a couple of times, maybe 4x, to make sure you downloaded them all.
To start open iTunes. Go to Store in the menu tab. Then go to Check for Available Downloads. You may have to put your Apple ID password in so make sure you have it. Also, make sure it’s the ID that pretty much has all your music because you won’t be able to mix accounts. Select Music, TV, Movies, and Apps. Whatever you have, download it. Then put everything on an external HD and keep it there. By all means buy an external HD and use it. Use Time Machine and set it up to backup automatically.
I hope this story helps you and if you need further help let me know.
As an avid musician myself and a long time wanna be rock star I came to admire the music of Whitney Houston. Some of it a bit bubble gum for my taste but at times some of the most amazing lyrics and vocals I’ve ever heard. She was a beautiful beautiful woman to boot. I just hope she enjoyed her life because I know that I certainly enjoyed her timeless music that she gave to so many of us. You will sadly, sadly be missed. May you rest in peace.
